Davie County Digs

Just down the road from the main town square, the new community of Marbrook offers buyers all of the amenities of Mocksville along with comfortable homes and affordable price ranges.By Cindy Hodnett

If you haven't been to Mocksville lately, you might want to schedule a road trip one afternoon. Although notable for the historic homes that line Main Street and the strong community ties to Daniel Boone and his parents, Mocksville is also becoming a fun day-trip destination for many people interested in exploring the new shops and businesses springing up in "Mocksville proper." Buffered by the rural ambiance of Davie County, Mocksville has been aptly described as a place where the "stability of the past is joined by the promise of the future," and the growing population of residents and visitors is a good indicator of the community's evolution.

Just down the road from the main town square, a new community is under way that offers buyers all of the amenities of Mocksville along with comfortable homes and affordable price ranges. At Marbrook, residents can still enjoy the pleasures of a rural neighborhood without giving up the attraction of Mocksville's eclectic commercial offerings, and the variety of homes in the development make it an ideal option for families of all ages and stages.

"Marbrook is located just two miles from Historic Downtown Mocksville, and the convenience of shopping, dining, schools and the YMCA is just minutes away," said ERA Premier Realty's Rodney Bailey. "The homes in Marbrook are perfect for first-time homebuyers, or if you are looking to upsize or downsize. Prices range from the $210,000s to the $280,000s, and most homes feature amenities such as hardwood flooring, granite countertops, gas-log fireplaces, and brick or stone faces."

Current inventory in Marbrook includes an assortment of housing options. One available home is a split-foyer with more than 2,700 square feet. Listed for $239,900, this property also has a basement that makes a great playroom or media room, and a dining and great room configuration designed for busy families.

Another home in Marbrook features a main-level master, the must-have item for most retirees or empty-nesters. A vaulted ceiling in the main living area lends a feel of spaciousness to the surroundings, and the home's four bedrooms can be used as sleeping space for visiting grandkids, a home office or a cozy library. This home lists for $279,900.

For $226,900, buyers can choose a three-bedroom, two-bath plan that showcases elegant architectural features including stately columns in the main living area and a visually appealing half-wall in the bath that defines the space. This home has more than 2,750 square feet.

"We will be holding open house every Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., so folks should come by and view any of these gorgeous homes," Bailey said. "Now is a great time to buy, with low interest rates and special financing, such as no payments for six months or closing costs paid and buy-downs on interest rates with the preferred lender."
