Distinctive homes and a stellar location define Spicewood Trails

One of the first things you notice when you drive through Spicewood Trails is the interesting mix of architectural details. Some houses feature cedar columns and stone accents, while others have tiered landscaping, varied roof lines and custom windows. However, despite the diversity of styles, the homes in Spicewood Trails share several key features, including large, private lots and a location in one of the Triad's fastest-growing regions for new construction.
"This property was hand-picked by the developer," said Prudential Carolinas Realty's Georgie Thompson. "It's quiet and private, but not far from anything, and it is part of a very high-growth area in Forsyth County."
Part of the Reagan High School district, Spicewood Trails is nestled between Transou and Yadkinville roads on wooded acreage that provides a comfortable home for deer, rabbits, birds and the occasional wild turkey. Residents in Spicewood Trails report watching the wildlife from their back porches, and for many, the neighborhood has an unusual ambiance not common within the city limits of Winston-Salem.
"Spicewood sits on a wooded ridge overlooking a creek bottom and farmland," said resident Carl Nagle. "It has almost a mountain feel to it, and it seems that the builders have carried this mountain theme into many of the home designs. It really does feel like a mountain community."
The builder team in Spicewood Trails includes many of the Piedmont's long-established residential-construction companies. Homes are upscale, comfortable and filled with amenities, and the spacious homesites provide important outdoor living space for gardening, entertaining and school-age recreation.
"You usually have to go farther out to find this type of privacy and space," said PCR's Peg Meyers. "You get a lot of square footage for the price along with high quality, privacy and a lot of space."
"Privacy is paramount," said Nagle's wife, Daniell. "We moved here from acreage, and privacy is really important to us. Here we are secluded, but not isolated."
"We love the quiet elegance this community offers," Carl Nagle said.
