In our fast-paced society, it can be hard to carve out time for recreation. Whether a long walk with the dog or a season of energetic soccer games, a regular schedule of R&R can be difficult to maintain, and many families find themselves struggling to keep physically fit on a daily basis.

Future residents of Wellington, a 36-lot new-construction neighborhood in King, might find that quality outdoor time and beneficial indoor exercise are easy. About one mile from the community YMCA, Wellington features spacious homes with large yards and easy access to the amenities of King.

"This side of town is really catching on with buyers," said Century 21 Nichols Realty's Dennis Nichols. "Here in Wellington, you're five minutes from King, medical offices, the YMCA and the library. The schools are all within a 15-minute drive, and buyers can build a custom home with an approved builder."

Homes in Wellington must be at least 80 percent brick and stone, an architectural guideline that ensures the future value of the community. The diverse floor plans appeal to a variety of buyers, including empty nesters, young families and buyers ready to downsize.

"Right now, we have a nice mix of homeowners," Nichols said. "There are families, as well as people who have retired. Everyone likes the convenience to town and the access to both the mountains and Winston-Salem."

"This is an upscale neighborhood with a rural atmosphere that homeowners enjoy," said Century 21's Daphne Ayers. "Taxes are lower, you're close to schools and it's easy to get anywhere."

Prices in Wellington start in the $365,000 range and go up to $380,000-plus. Floor plans include four- and five-bedroom designs, and square footage ranges from a minimum of 1,800 to 2,400-plus.

"Wellington has city water, sewer and sidewalks," Nichols said. "And even though you feel like you're out in the country, everything is actually very close."
