Many people think that the era of affordable homes has passed. Sure, it's easy to buy a house if you've got $250,000 or more to spend, but what about buyers who are just starting out, or who don't want a big mortgage? Is there such a thing as new construction for less than $125,000?
The answer is "yes" at Konnoak Ridge.
Buyers in the first phase at Konnoak Ridge have been enjoying the community's convenience and affordability for more than a year. Now, with the grand opening of Phase II, representatives for Konnoak Ridge are gearing up to help a new group of buyers become homeowners.
"This is a great neighborhood for first-time homebuyers and for people downsizing," said Konnoak Ridge builder Simon Shaw. "It is convenient to downtown and has great views of the city."
Konnoak Ridge is less than five minutes from Highway 52 and easy access to downtown, Interstate 40, shopping and restaurants. The community is part of a well-established neighborhood that has enjoyed a resurgence of real-estate interest in recent years as buyers look for homes that allow them to maximize their homebuying dollars.
Homes in Konnoak Ridge start in the low $100,000s. Standard features include cathedral ceilings, a choice of carpet and vinyl, prewiring for cable and telephone, energy-efficient windows and heat pump, oak-finish cabinetry, and a self-cleaning range. RE/MAX Realty Consultants' Kristi Idol is marketing the community, and she says that the builders offer a lot of value for the money.
"There is a lot of attention to detail in Konnoak Ridge," Idol said. "Buyers have their choice of interior and exterior decor, and there are several open and airy three-bedroom, two-bath plans."
Today, Idol is hosting the grand opening of Phase II from 1 to 4 p.m. Visitors can tour new homes and enjoy pizza and soft drinks while exploring the options that are available in the community.
"The builders are offering a lot of assistance to qualified buyers," Idol said. "There is closing costs assistance and a $1,200 appliance-package allowance. Potential buyers can visit and choose the home that best meets their needs."
