New patio-home community is a popular addition to Brookberry Farm

Several months ago, a few of the luxury-estate properties in Brookberry Farm were featured in HomePlace. Along with the insider's look at the amenities of each home, readers were treated to a visual tour of the Brookberry Farm landscape and village "square," and they learned about popular neighborhood activities like outdoor movie night and Easter egg hunts. Since that time, many homebuyers who visited the community decided to become part of the Brookberry family, and today, new-construction activity in the neighborhood remains strong.
Today, potential residents of Brookberry Farm can once again explore the many benefits of a Brookberry address and tour the community's first patio homes at Walnut Park. Just a short distance from the clubhouse, fitness center and village green, the homes in Walnut Park offer all of the Brookberry Farm amenities as well as the lifestyle convenience of a low-maintenance residence.
"We have just finished two of the patio homes, and we already have six under contract," said Prudential Carolinas Realty's Judy Snyder, the marketing agent for Walnut Park. "These homes feature smaller lots maintained by a homeowners' association, and several people are moving here who have family close by."
Cambridge Isenhour is the builder for Walnut Park, and Snyder said that the quality of the patio homes is unsurpassed. She added that the company is known for exemplary work and that Isenhour understands what features transform a property into an extraordinary residence.
"Cambridge Isenhour worked a long time to refine these plans," Snyder said. "They maximize the space in each home and really make them as luxurious as they could possibly be, from the granite countertops to the high ceilings to all of the upper-end finishes."
The model for Walnut Park is a testament to the craftsmanship of a Cambridge-Isenhour home. The French Country design features a brick and stone exterior with wood accents, as well as an enclosed rear courtyard with intricate architectural details and a soothing fountain. Plantation shutters and ironwork add visual charm, and the covered front porch is an ideal spot for morning coffee or afternoon tea.
Inside, hardwood floors anchor the family room, dining room and kitchen. A built-in banquet seat in the kitchen is certain to be a favorite gathering place for residents and guests, and the easy access to the patio and courtyard provides a convenient segue from indoor to outside.
"Walnut Park is really taking off," said developer Jim McChesney. "And we're excited about the diversity of architecture that is available in Brookberry Farm. We have attempted to intermingle that diversity because we found the approach worked well in Greenbrier Farm. ... The people who have moved into this neighborhood tell us that they are very happy — they are our best advertisement."
The next phase of construction in Brookberry Farm will begin in a few weeks, and McChesney said that the lots will be available within 30 to 60 days. Some of the homesites will be estate lots that overlook the lake, and others will back up to the wooded creek areas.
"As part of that phase, we're adding a swimming pool, tennis courts, lake, lake house and playground," McChesney said. "Weather permitting, the pool will open Memorial Day."
Visitors to Brookberry Farm might notice several similarities between the western Forsyth County neighborhood and Greenbrier Farm, McChesney's previous development. Prudential's Lici Fansler said that both communities have distinctive amenities.
"You don't have this grid of up and down streets that is so prevalent in many communities," Fansler said. "Instead, you wind your way along meandering streets and gorgeous vistas."
"When you're fortunate enough as a developer to find a large, significant property like this, it gives you the ability to create a lifestyle and something that people enjoy living in," McChesney said. "We try to preserve as many trees as we can and preserve the character of the land, and that allows us to create something that is pretty special."
