Ask any parent with a teenager to tell you about the school offerings in Forsyth County, and Reagan High School is certain to be mentioned. A recent addition to the Forsyth County list, Reagan has been a popular choice for many families during the past few years, and communities in the area have attracted many buyers.
Lochurst is one of the developments in the Reagan school district that is popular with families. Home to a variety of properties that provide plenty of square footage for growing households, Lochurst is affordable and stylish, and the latest phase of construction in the neighborhood includes a great 1.5-story traditional that is perfect for busy families.
Built by Eric Jones, a native of Winston-Salem and self-described "hands-on builder," 3594 Campton Ridge Road has many notable features.
A circular drive welcomes guests to the elegant brick home, and extensive professional landscaping complements the property's classic architectural details. The front yard features many colorful plants, and in the back, a privacy screen of natural greenery is under way that will provide a serene setting within a few years. As attractive as the home is on the outside, the inside is also an attention-grabber.
The coffered ceiling in the dining room is one of the first things guests see when they walk through the front door. A sunny room that offers simple and elegant entertaining space, the dining area opens to the kitchen and its keeping room that is defined by a wall of windows overlooking the rear yard. The adjacent great room features a fireplace and access to the screened porch, and the proximity to the keeping room makes it easy to accommodate sleepovers or enjoy after-the-game pizza parties or weekend breakfasts.
On a recent visit to the home, Jones said that the floor plan is a favorite for buyers with kids.
"This is a great plan for families," he said. "It has four bedrooms, a main-level master, and nice features like a dual-head shower in the master bath and oil-rubbed bronze fixtures."
Jones is building homes in Lochurst and Meadowlands, and he said that he does a lot of the work in each house.
"For custom homes, we are always on-site, greeting subcontractors and meeting with buyers," Jones said. "We are constantly on the job site."
Jones builds a variety of homes from the $100,000s to the mid-$400,000 range. He has a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture and likes to incorporate his educational background with his professional homebuilding experience.
"I worked in the landscape contracting business and for several residential and commercial builders [before starting his company]," Jones said. "I just developed a liking for the business and pursued it."
The home at 3594 Campton Ridge is the latest of several homes Jones has built in Lochurst. Buyers have responded well to his mix of a quality family home and desirable neighborhood, and the future residents of 3594 Campton Ridge will enjoy the same convenient lifestyle.
"Lochurst is very popular with families who want to be in the Reagan district," Jones said. "This home is part of the newest phase of Lochurst, and we've sold several houses in the neighborhood already."
