North Davidson Deal

Kensington has spacious lots, upscale homesBy Cindy Hodnett
HomePlace Writer

Kensington is just a mile from the Hickory Tree Road interchange with Highway 150, but the picturesque community has the appeal of a neighborhood out in the country. Woods buffer many of the homesites, and lots range from .72 to 2.88 acres, providing plenty of space for kids, gardens and pets. Yet despite the abundant natural amenities, Kensington is also a premier new-construction community and has several housing styles designed to accommodate the needs of modern households.

"Kensington is conveniently located to Highway 150 and US Highway 52 and within minutes to downtown Winston-Salem, Hanes Mall and area restaurants," said Robin Brady of Welcome Home Realty. "There are 21 lots, and the community is in Davidson County with low county taxes and outside the city limits."

Brady said that buyers will find a variety of lots to choose from in Kensington. A Homeowners Association maintains common areas, and neighborhood restrictions are in place to ensure continued value of the homes.

"Some lots are open, and others have a beautiful wooded or natural setting," Brady said. "The Homeowners Association will take care of the long and winding road that leads to the homesites, and the community has natural gas and cable. Schools include Friedburg Elementary and North Davidson Middle and High schools."

Brady is hosting an open house in Kensington this afternoon at 454 Willow Ridge Lane. An all-brick traditional design with 2,500 square feet, three or four bedrooms, two full and one half baths, and an additional 1,700 square feet of unfinished space on the upper level, 454 Willow Ridge is a great home for families that might want to expand.

"This home is a split plan on one level with a two-car side-entry garage," Brady said. "A finished room in the basement could be a fourth bedroom or game room."

Listed for $339,000, 454 Willow Ridge is one of several spec homes recently completed in Kensington. Several custom homes are also under way.

"Currently, there is a custom being built by Castlegate Construction, the spec on Lot 22 is under contract and we recently closed on the first custom built by HyMarx Builders," Brady said. "A spec on Lot 6 built by Darcyn Homes is being offered at $339,000, and a spec on Lot 4 built by Castlegate Construction is offered at $399,500."

For homeowners who want a "little bit of country," Kensington is an ideal choice. Convenient to downtown Winston-Salem and major thoroughfares, the neighborhood offers plenty of outside space along with easy accessibility.
