The North Carolina Association of Realtors recently honored Wendy Butler of Leonard Ryden Burr Real Estate with its annual Rising Star award. The award recognizes a NCAR member who has been a Realtor for five years or less and who has exhibited leadership qualities and provided exemplary service.
"The Rising Star award recognizes agents for their support of their community and the advancement of their profession at the local Realtor Association level," Butler said. "I think it should be everyone’s goal to give back to the community, particularly those of us in the real-estate industry. Winston-Salem has a proud volunteer and philanthropic tradition, and it is vital that we continue to support this legacy into the future."
Butler has also been recognized by the Winston-Salem Regional Association of Realtors for her work on the local level. Currently the chairperson for the community service committee, Butler has also served on the sponsorship, strategic planning, social, political Affairs and membership development committees. In addition to her professional duties, Butler is active in many community organizations, including United Way, SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now), Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County and the Children’s Center for the Physically Disabled.
"I strive to honor the work of those who have gone before me by sharing my time and resources," Butler said. "And the benefits are great — my spirit is nurtured, and I’m energized to work hard and have some fun every day. I’m truly honored and humbled to be the recipient of the Rising Star award. I hope in some small way that it inspires others to find their own ways to serve."
