Living Easy

Shelburne Village at Camelot is a premier courtyard-home neighborhood.By Cindy Hodnett
HomePlace Writer

Plans for the third phase of Shelburne Village are under way, and as construction on the newest homes in the Sherwood Forest community begins, builder Keith Rogers explains that the neighborhood has developed a unique personality since its inception.

"As time has gone on, the basics of Shelburne Village have stayed the same," Rogers said during a recent visit to the development. "We have expanded our price range from $600,000 to well over $1,000,000, but our goal of helping our customers achieve what they want remains the same. We have standard plans that we use, but we will also work from other designs, and all of our homes are very open, light and airy, and include a lot of custom detail work."

"Keith has continued his tradition of building the finest courtyard homes in Winston-Salem, and buyers have responded," said Coldwell Banker Triad, Realtors' Shannon Conrad. "We have five custom homes under contract right now."

Homes in Shelburne Village include all of the amenities expected in a high-end home. However, many of the homes also feature incredible outdoor living spaces with kitchens, fountains and even the occasional pool.

"Our climate lends itself to outdoor entertaining, and we are doing everything we can to functionally expand the home," Rogers said. "It's not just the heated square footage of the house that is important, and our homes allow our clients to achieve a level of lifestyle living that can often be hard to find."

Rogers' recent Spring Festival entry is a good example of the type of comfortable, elegant home that has become synonymous with Shelburne Village. A split-bedroom plan that lists for $639,900, the home includes a main-level study accessed from the foyer, an open kitchen with a breakfast nook and keeping room, and incredible views of the adjacent courtyard. Although the home's amenities are obvious at first glance, it maintains a relaxed ambiance that lends the space to flexible entertaining, and this attractive combination of features is part of the reason homes continue to sell well in Shelburne Village.

"There are only going to be 22 more homes in the entire neighborhood," Conrad said. "In phase three, we have eight lots available, and there will be two spec homes available. One lists for $639,900 and the other for $829,900."

It isn't hard to imagine the lifestyle that homeowners enjoy at Shelburne Village. On any given day, residents are out walking their dogs, visiting neighbors or taking in a bit of sunshine from the privacy of their own courtyards. The village green is a popular resting spot for residents, and the community's quiet streets are ideal for leisurely strolls.

"From outdoor kitchens to pools, Shelburne Village offers the best in one-level living in a luxury home," Conrad said. "Keith has really taken this concept to an outstanding level."
