One of the great things about Triad real estate is that you never know what sort of property you might find around the next corner. For example, very few people realize that there is an almost hidden community centered around the "lake o' the woods" near Wake Forest University, and that one of the homes for sale there was designed by renowned architect William Roy Wallace. In addition, many people are amazed to see the spectacular water views from the rear of this house; it's the type of scenery usually found in luxury-home communities. However, 750 Lynn Dee Drive is not an exclusive estate that is too expensive for the average homebuyer. Instead, the private, convenient and full of potential property is priced less than $200,000, an unusual opportunity for buyers willing to invest a bit of sweat equity into their next home.

"The views are incredible," said Jack Stack of Jack Stack Properties. "There are a lot of nice details throughout the house, and with a few updates, it could be an amazing property."

Originally built in 1955, 750 Lynn Dee Drive offers main-level living with two bedrooms, three full baths, a living room, den, kitchen and sunroom. Stack said that the existing square footage could be adapted in a number of ways, adding that the home's proximity to Wake Forest is a big plus for students or faculty members.

"This home is minutes away from the Wake Forest campus," he said. "But it is also a private setting."

During a visit to 750 Lynn Dee Drive earlier this week, Stack pointed out several geese gliding across the water, an abundance of flowering shrubs in the front and rear yards, and the unique architectural details of the home, including nautical lights and bull's-eye glass around the front entry.

"When the owners bought this home years ago, they were originally planning to build a home in Sherwood Forest," Stack said. "But once they saw this home, they knew this was it."

The sunroom is not included in the heated square footage of the home, but the spacious living space is comfortable on all but the coldest days. Large enough for several seating areas as well as a dining table, the room is all glass on three sides and offers serene water vistas that immediately eliminate the stresses of the day.

Inside, a large family room has many windows that also overlook the lake. Anchored by built-in bookshelves and a fireplace, this living space allows residents to enjoy the view along with a toasty fire.

"We have the original plans and specs for this home," Stack said. "It's a neat property that would be perfect for someone who wants to be close to WFU."

This uncommon property lists for $194,500 and has more than 2,100 square feet. To see 750 Lynn Dee Drive today from 1 to 5 p.m., take Reynolda Road North to thr intersection with Polo Road; at the stoplight, turn left on Polo and continue to veer right on Ransom Road at College Park Baptist Church; go .7 miles to a left turn on Woodbriar Road; take Woodbriar to a right turn on Lynn Dee Drive; the home is on the left.
